The King’s Wardrobe: Part 1.
A Broken Mirror
The voices were deafening. Albert and Charles felt like their ears would burst as the sound filled the great temple of Elysara, and then—suddenly—fell dead silent.
The light bursting from Albert’s hand had struck the serpent square in the chest, tearing the dark mist apart. In a convulsion of scales and shadows, Yamata—the Keeper of Mirrors—shattered into nothing but dust and ash, vanishing into the air. The heavy, deceptive fog that had choked the City of Mirrors lifted entirely.
As the air cleared, Charles dropped his hands from his ears, looking down at the stone floor. There, coiled neatly where the beast had just stood, was a silver belt, gleaming softly in the faint, newly restored light.
"Look at the belt lying on the ground; the beast dropped it. What is it?" Charles asked, looking at it courteously, still fearing a lingering trap from the temple.
Albert stepped forward and picked it up. Looking closer at the inner band, he saw ancient words etched into the silver:
Truth will set you free.
“It is a gift from the King. It is the belt of truth," Albert said. He fastened it around his waist. Instantly, a profound warmth spread through him, clear and still, like bright sunlight piercing through after a violent storm. Looking out at the weeping, dazed citizens of Elysara whose eyes were finally opening, Albert turned to his friend. "The scales are lifted from your eyes. Now hear the king's voice and walk with clear vision."
The Strategy and a Blueprint: Fastened with Truth
In the Bible, who is the truth?
One word: Jesus!
We are called to put on truth—to put on Jesus. Putting on the King is a daily thing we do in faith.
The Apostle Paul wrote Ephesians while in prison, chained to a guard. This man knew hardship; he knew difficulty for his King, Jesus. Surrounded by Roman armour every single day, he looked at his captor and saw a spiritual blueprint:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth..." — Ephesians 6:10-14
A Journey
Life is a journey, and there will be hardship along the way. Paul knew this, and he gave us a blueprint of what it looks like to prepare and make ourselves ready.
How do we put God's armour on?
The belt of truth is trusting by faith in the very embodiment of truth itself. In the Gospel of John, Pilate asked a famous question:
"What is truth?" retorted Pilate. (He asked this to Jesus, but did not wait for an answer). — John 18:38
If Pilate had looked closer, he might have seen the reality of truth standing right in front of him. Because earlier, Jesus himself revealed exactly who He is:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." — John 14:6
Paul, in his letter to the Romans, actually commands us to put on Jesus—the Truth:
"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires." — Romans 13:14
So we are called to truth, to live it, and to put on Jesus, who is the only way to God and the only truth we can truly trust. Read your Bible and put on Christ. Understand the truth God's beautiful Word contains. Jesus leads us into all truth because He is the way, and eternal life comes through Him.
How All This Connects in My Book
Albert and Charles walk a hard road. They come against lies, deception, and a thick fog that makes the way difficult to see. But the King shows them, even in perilous times, what truth is and what it means to live by it.
In my story, the victory comes by putting on the King. In our daily lives, it is putting on Jesus.
Why do Albert and Charles gain a part of the King's armour once they have defeated a beast? It is a way to show in allegory form that the armour of God is not rules to follow or vague principles, it is Jesus
This is done on purpose to get you thinking and as a lesson that we must be prepared for battle with truth. In order to stand, we must know how. Read your Bible, and fill your mind with Jesus—who is the Truth.
